Rio de Janeiro Slum Narrative

“Rodriguez get up! we have to go now.”
“Mom where are we going?”
“I don’t know but we just have out get out of the slums!” Waking up to the sounds of guns shots, women and children screaming in the narrow and clustered streets of Rio de Janeiro. “Rodriguez, I want you to escape this life of drugs, little education, and violence. Once you leave this house you don’t look back, you don’t hide, you keep running.”
“Yes momma,” trying to be strong, holding back his tears Rodriguez embraces his mother, not knowing when they will ever see each other. Bullets fly through the rough wooden walls of the inferior structure, with only enough room to kneel.
“Hurry Rodriguez!”
Rodriguez flees out the door as fast as he can the archaic light from the sun, glaring into his eyes, quickly turns everything around him turns into a white blinding light. Rodriguez trips, being unable to see what is around him from the vastly changing light only allowing him to see the shape of an object. He pulls himself up cautiously as he slowly regains sight. Time slows down almost, Rodriguez’s heart racing. Smoke engulfs the sky and light quickly dims.
“Common Rodriguez you can do this, you need to get yourself out of here,” He comely tells himself.
Looking around, bodies of men, women and children fill the streets. The dug sewage lines have become a tiny stream of blood running down throughout the entire slum. He takes one last look back. Rodriguez falls to his knees, his face turns ashen grey. The last thing Rodriguez sees is the cracking flashes of light from the guns of the drug dealers, sending bullets flying through his torso. Crowds of people trampling over him trying to escape this slum of violence, drugs and little education. Looking to start a new life.

Design Brief for Informal Cites (summary)

In Rio de Janeiro there are many Informal Cities, with many people facing problems of safety. The Rio de Janeiro Informal Cities (slums) are having huge problems with the mass drug war throughout various slums. over 1000 police officers have been asigned to stop the drug dealers, but this lead to violence of the communities in the slums and thus many innocent people got hurt and have a hard time finding safety or medical attention. In these Informal Cities i would like to design buildings to reduce safety problems for all ages.
Some of my solutions are to create recreation areas to get children and adults out of the streets and into a safe surrounding. Another solution is to build a school for children, inorder to give them somthing to do and keep them out of trouble, or i will try to build a community center (centre) in case of unsafe environments. I will create these buildings (what ever one i choose) with re-enforced concrete and heavily guarded, with massive/thick walls that will protect the people on the inside, all the glass will be bullet proof, and every thing will be upgraded in size just for protection. Safety is my main priority.
